New Chainlink Data Feeds power Ripio's wARS and wBRL stablecoins on Ethereum, unlocking lending, borrowing, and on-chain liquidity in local currencies.
BUENOS AIRES, July 3, 2026 — Ripio announced a collaboration with Chainlink, the industry-standard oracle platform, to launch decentralized ARS/USD and BRL/USD price feeds on Ethereum mainnet. The new feeds provide DeFi protocols with reliable, tamper-resistant reference prices for the Argentine peso and the Brazilian real — the reference rates behind Ripio's local-currency stablecoins, wARS and wBRL.
With Chainlink Data Feeds now live, decentralized applications can accurately value ARS and BRL in real time. This is the critical piece of market infrastructure that allows leading money markets and DeFi protocols such as Aave, Morpho, and Compound to integrate these assets safely — knowing at all times the true value of the underlying currency.
wARS and wBRL are part of wFIAT, Ripio's suite of fully collateralized, local-currency stablecoins pegged 1:1 to their respective fiat currencies and backed by reserves held at regulated financial institutions. Both tokens are issued as ERC-20 assets across seven EVM-compatible networks — Ethereum, Base, World Chain, Polygon, BSC, Gnosis, and Celo — with collateral independently attested by local public accountants.
What this unlocks for DeFi and stablecoins
Until now, Latin American currencies have been effectively absent from on-chain finance. Reliable price data changes that. By making ARS and BRL exchange rates available to smart contracts, the collaboration opens a range of new use cases:
- Collateral and lending: wARS and wBRL can be listed on lending markets, letting users borrow against (or earn yield on) Pesos and Real-denominated positions.
- Local currency DeFi: Builders can create savings products, money markets, and structured products denominated in local currencies rather than only USD.
- Deeper on-chain liquidity: Accurate pricing enables DEX pools, automated market makers, and liquidity providers to quote wARS and wBRL with confidence, tightening spreads and reducing risk.
- A hedge against local volatility: Fully backed local stablecoins with trustworthy oracles give users and businesses a transparent, on-chain way to hold and move value in their own currency.
"Chainlink's price feeds give DeFi builders a dependable source of truth for the peso and the real, so wARS and wBRL can be used across the ecosystem as safely as any leading stablecoin,"
Fermín Rodríguez Head of Product de Ripio.
The feeds are available today on Ethereum mainnet:
- ARS/USD: https://data.chain.link/feeds/ethereum/mainnet/usd-ars
- BRL/USD: https://data.chain.link/feeds/ethereum/mainnet/brl-usd
Ripio and Chainlink plan to expand coverage to additional wFIAT currencies and networks over time, further broadening access to local-currency DeFi across the region.

About Chainlink
Chainlink is the industry-standard oracle platform for powering the verifiable web. Chainlink enables developers to build secure applications by connecting smart contracts to real-world data and off-chain computation across any blockchain, and is trusted by leading financial institutions and DeFi protocols worldwide.
Frequently asked questions
What are the new Chainlink price feeds and what do they do?
Decentralized ARS/USD and BRL/USD Data Feeds on Ethereum mainnet, providing DeFi protocols with reliable, tamper-resistant reference prices for the Argentine peso and Brazilian real — the reference rates behind Ripio's wARS and wBRL stablecoins.
Why do wARS and wBRL need price oracles?
Protocols like Aave, Morpho, and Compound can only list an asset safely if smart contracts can verify its true value at all times. Chainlink Data Feeds provide that market infrastructure, enabling lending, borrowing, and on-chain liquidity in local currencies.
What backs wARS and wBRL?
Both are part of wFIAT, Ripio's suite of fully collateralized stablecoins pegged 1:1 to their fiat currencies, backed by reserves at regulated financial institutions and independently attested by local public accountants. They're issued as ERC-20 tokens on seven EVM networks: Ethereum, Base, World Chain, Polygon, BSC, Gnosis, and Celo.
Where can I access the feeds?
Both are live on Ethereum mainnet: ARS/USD and BRL/USD. Ripio and Chainlink plan to expand to additional wFIAT currencies and networks over time.
